brazilian jiu jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an amazingly effective martial art. It is well known for the fundamental concept of smaller, weaker individuals can defeat a bigger, stronger opponent by applying proper technique and leverage. Unlike many traditional martial arts (such karate and taekwondo), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu does not involve any striking. This is a key aspect when we consider that many bullying instances occur at school, where one student striking another can end in suspension.
We prefer to reinforce the effectiveness of this amazing martial art to the kids, prior to teaching them to punch and kick.
This martial art, originating from Thailand, is commonly known as the art of 8 limbs, referring to the devastating use of elbows and knees as well as fists and shins.
Muay Thai is taught from a sport perspective, rather than a self defense perspective.
building martial artists
Learning martial arts is so much more than learning a specific technique, playing martial arts related games, or even sparring with your training partners...
It is about becoming a martial artist, in all senses of the word. It is about becoming a better person... at the gym, at school, and at home. It is about choosing to do the right thing, even when choosing to do the right thing can be the most difficult choice to make.
