Q: Will there be a maximum number of sessions one person can attend in one week?
A: We are offering classes 3 days a week (for the next 2 to 4 weeks – this is temporary). Initially you can reserve 3 classes per week. Once we confirm the number of people returning and how many classes we have, we will assess to see if we can open up class reservations, or decide whether we need more classes. Please bear with us, this is a learning curve. We have based the schedule on our survey results.
Q: How many people in a class and how do I reserve?
A: 10 people per class. You will be able to reserve your classes five days in advance through Zen Planner. If you have a flexible schedule, please keep in mind that some people do not. If you are able to attend at less busy times (i.e. 11:00 a.m., 2:45 p.m. or 4:15 p.m. it would be very appreciated). This is temporary, once the restrictions relax and we can accommodate more in a class, this will all change.
Q: Do I have to wear a mask while training?
A: No, you do not have to wear a mask during class but you do need to be wearing a mask as you enter and exit the gym. The instructors (Janet & Chris) will be wearing a mask to teach.
Q: Would you consider morning classes?
A: We have added an 11:00 a.m. class. Considering the amount of additional cleaning / sterilizing required, it is logistically difficult to start much earlier than 11am.
Q: What about Saturday morning classes?
A: They will come back. With all of the additional cleaning requirements and restrictions right now, we are starting with a schedule that we think we can manage, it will change with time.
Q: What is the plan for returning to BJJ?
A: We do not have a plan yet. All we can offer right now are classes that respect the 2 meter physical distancing rule. Independent drilling would be all we could offer, which we feel might be fun to attend once or twice but for the majority of people, would likely get boring pretty quickly. We accept that some people could be quite happy with this, but we need to think about what the majority would do.
Q: Can we attend the fitness classes with a grappling membership if the grappling is still closed?
A: Yes. We will convert your membership to the fitness rate, while you are training in the Strike classes. So if the rate you have been paying is a higher rate than your grappling membership, we will make the necessary adjustments. We cannot lend any equipment right now, so if you do not have gloves, they would need to be purchased. Please email Janet@hayabusa-academy.com to arrange for gloves if you would like to purchase through us. You can use your banked time towards the purchase of gloves if you would like.
Q: Would love some techniques classes too!
A: This is our first phase of reopening, we will add some as we get into the groove.
Q: Can we use our banked time towards restarting our membership or purchasing equipment?

Q: What is the difference between the Strike 30 and the Strike 45 classes….other than the length?
A: The 30 minute class will be a fully instructed cardio/conditioning class. The 45 minute class will give a little bit more freedom with some incorporated free style rounds for those that enjoy independent bag work. Janet will teach most of the strike 30 classes, Chris will be teaching the strike 45 classes.
