Joining a new martial arts academy has always been a bit of a stressful adventure for most people. There are people, who have no issues what-so-ever, walking through our front door and throwing themselves into something new. But those people are rare. Most of us find trying something new to be stressful. I know I do. And when you think about martial arts, I think it makes it even that more stressful. Add the current health pandemic situation to the mix, and it starts to seem downright impossible.
We can assure you that we are doing everything within our power to make this gym as safe as possible for our members. Including the following:
Health Screening at the front door
Class size limits
Maintaining physical distancing in all classes
Plenty of time between classes to allow for ample cleaning
Cleaning and disinfecting all heavy bags, and training mats between all classes
It is our wish to provide a safe training environment for everyone, regardless of your risk tolerance.
Under normal circumstances (pre-COVID), when we receive a phone call, or an email from someone interested in joining the academy, we invite them to start a 2 week trial. We lend them whatever equipment they need to take any of the classes they are interested in attending, and we go from there.
Due to the pandemic, we are not allowed to lend equipment. Everyone training must use their own equipment, as we are not permitted to lend out boxing gloves or Jiu Jitsu gis. This makes things significantly more complicated for someone just wanting to try the academy if they have never done anything like this before and don't own their own equipment. Additionally, if you're interested in taking Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes, you are required to have a dedicated partner from within your social circle.
These are independent fitness kickboxing classes that take place on a heavy bag. The only equipment that is required for these classes are boxing gloves. All of our heavy bags are 8 feet apart from each other and are thoroughly clean / sanitized between each class. If you don't have boxing gloves, we do sell Hayabusa brand boxing gloves, (the most cost effective being $69 (+tax) which include a pair of hand wraps with the gloves). Our timetable is loaded with Strike 30 classes every weekday. When you join our Strike 30 classes, you can take any 3 classes per week. Class sizes are limited to 14 people, and require you to reserve your class in advance.
Our Muay Thai classes are partner based classes, however, you must have a dedicated partner who is someone from within your social circle. We are not allowed to assign you a partner outside of your social circle. We have limited class sizes, with new pairs joining all the time. If you do not have a training partner from within your social circle, that can join with you, but you do have room in your social circle to add people, please contact us, and let us know that you are interested in joining, but require a partner.
Required equipment for these classes are simply boxing gloves.
We do currently have 2 groups of Muay Thai classes running on Monday's and Wednesday nights. See our timetable for class times. Each group currently has 2 training times per week.
Similar to our Muay Thai classes, our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are running as partner based classes, with a partner from within your social circle. These class sizes are also limited to allow for appropriate physical distancing. If you do not have a training partner from within your social circle, that can join with you, but you do have room in your social circle to add people, please contact us, and let us know that you are interested in joining, but require a partner.
Required equipment for these classes is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gi.
We currently have 3 groups of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes running through the week. Each group has 2 training times per week.
