THE "ULTIMATE" ART

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), like it sounds is a “Mix” of both striking and grappling techniques from a variety of other combat sports like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo, etc. Although MMA has only seen a boom in popularity since the early 2000’s its roots go all the way back to Martial Artist’s like Bruce Lee who examined disciplines like Kung-Fu and Karate, and found that there were better, more efficient and effective ways to fight and defend yourself.

We offer MMA specific team training twice per week, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  These classes allow athletes to combine the individual skills they've acquired in the striking and grappling classes, into MMA training.

THE HISTORY OF MMA

When the first UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) happened in 1993, its purpose was to identify the most effective martial arts in a fight with minimal rules between competitors of different fighting styles.  It quickly became obvious that one art was not enough, and competitors began to learn effective techniques from different arts, giving birth to what is now known as Mixed Martial Arts.

Hayabusa Academy offers the opportunity for athletes of all levels to train MMA, along side amateur and professional athletes.

We have individuals that train for a variety of different reasons.  Some of them compete on a regular basis, some of them train to stay in shape, and some train because they simply love it.
